St. Joseph Volunteers donate over 20,000 hours each year of their time and talents. Volunteers provide needed assistance and support to hospital staff by serving in areas such as the gift shop, information desk, physical therapy, nursing, and emergency services.
St. Joseph Volunteer Services is structured into three groups:
Auxiliary – is made of adult men and women who donate not only their time in departments throughout the hospital, but also give a generous financial donation to St. Joseph each year through money raised from the gift shop and various fundraising projects. Auxiliary members serve a minimum of 25 hours per year, however, most volunteers serve 3-4 hours a week.. To become part of the Auxiliary, you may call Cara Charanza, Director of Volunteer Services, to set up an appointment for an informational meeting or send your application to Volunteer Services and she will contact you.
Student Corp – is made of adult men and women (18 years minimum), many from Texas A&M and Blinn, who volunteer for educational goals and work experience. Volunteers are accepted three times per year for Fall, Spring or Summer semester placement. Student Corp volunteers serve about 30 hours per semester or 3 hours per week. Once you are accepted into the volunteer program, you may volunteer for as many semesters as you would like. The deadline for application submission is the Friday of the first week of classes, however, you should get your application in as early as possible (before the end of the previous semester is best) as we have to limit the class size. Once accepted into the program you will be contacted by email with instructions on our orientation process.
Junior Volunteers – is a summer (only) volunteer program for youth age 14 – 17 years. Applications are available in April of each year at area schools and at the information desk in the hospital.
Complete information about our volunteer program and available volunteer positions and position duties is provided in our Volunteer Information and Application that can be downloaded from this web page (see below) or you may pick a copy up at the information desk located in the front entrance of St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
