Ultrasound is the non-invasive imaging technique which uses high-frequency sound waves for visualizing the normal and abnormal anatomical structures of the body. Ultrasound was originally developed in the late 1950's and as technology has improved the images have acheived excellent detail and clarity.

The Ultrasound department at the acute care hospital in Bryan offers a wide variety of exams including:

  • pregnancy, abdominal, renal (kidneys), pelvis
  • complete and transesophageal echos with color doppler
  • small body parts including breast, scrotal (testicular), thyroid (neck), prostate, optical, and neonatal heads
  • vascular studies including carotids, venous and arterial flow and graft evaluations

    Hours of operation are 7:00am to 6:00pm for scheduled patients. Emergency services are available 24 hours a day including weekends.

    Our mobile ultrasound service includes the areas of Madisonville (Madison St. Joseph Health Center) and Navasota (Grimes St. Joseph Health Center) with other areas to be added in the future. Procedures available are:

  • abdominal pelvic
  • OB echo with color doppler
  • vascular
  • carotid
  • venous
  • small body parts including breasts, testiculars, thyroid, and infant pyloric stenosis
