Dr. George McIlhaney was born and raised in Shawnee, Oklahoma. A Baylor Bear, Dr. McIlhaney received his undergraduate degree at Baylor University and his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine.
The desire to use his God-given abilities to help others led Dr. McIlhaney to become a doctor; he decided the field of family medicine provided him the best opportunity to do that. Dr. McIlhaney believes the St. Joseph Difference is practicing high-quality medicine for an organization that seeks to serve others.
Although no longer delivering babies, helping a family bring new life into the world has been one of the most rewarding aspects of his career. He also enjoys the long-term relationships he’s formed with patients during his 35-year practice.
Dr. McIlhaney and his wife, Lynn, are the proud parents of four children who have blessed them with nine grandchildren. Although only two of their children and one granddaughter live in the area, the others are a short drive away. (However, Dr. McIhaney says even a short distance can feel like a thousand miles to a grandparent). The McIlhaneys enjoy frequent visits and visiting frequently.
When not visiting, Dr. McIlhaney enjoys yard work, bird watching, and working on his model railroad. He also reads many biographies. The McIlhaneys are members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church
