Teen Volunteer Program

Summer 2014 Teen Volunteer Program -

Deadline was May 1, 2014  The program is now closed and we are no longer accepting applications.  Please check back for the 2015 Teen Summer Program in March 2015 for more details. 

Thank you for your interest in our Teen Volunteer Program at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.  Our teen program offers volunteer opportunities for youth age 14-17 years old.  You must be 14 years old by June 16, 2014, in order to participate in our program. 

Please read carefully:  We are offering one 8-week session from June 16 – August 8.  You are required to volunteer for, at least, one four hour shift per week and may not be absent for more than two assigned shifts during the summer session.  Shifts will be offered in the morning (8:30 am – 12:30 pm) or afternoon (12:30 pm – 4:30 pm), Monday – Friday. 

We will also offer four St. Joseph Teen University Lunch & Learn sessions.  These will provide opportunities to learn about various professions and areas within the hospital.  You are required to attend at least two sessions to remain in the program.  These will be offered from 11:30 am – 1 pm on the following days: 6/26, 7/10, 7/21, and 7/31.

Orientation, Tuesday, June 10, 9:30-11:30 am (mandatory for all new volunteers)

We have a limited number of placements available. Many of you have busy summer schedules and you need to carefully consider whether a commitment to the hospital program will fit into your schedule.

All first time applicants- items 1 through 3 below must be received in our office no later that Thursday, May 1, 2014.  Incomplete submissions will not be processed.

Complete your online Teen Volunteer Application (link below) and provide:

  1. One (1) non-family member recommendation letter.
  2. A 500 – 600 word, typed essay in which the applicant answers this question:  “What is your most valued personal possession and why?”

Please complete your online application (this will automatically be transmitted to us) and then submit together your letter of recommendation and your essay to:

  • Scan to submit by email
  • Fax to Volunteer Services 979.776.2927
  • Drop off to the Volunteer Services office

Applicants that have submitted their reference and essay will be contacted by email or phone to set up an after school interview. 

Please do not apply if you are not going to be able to commit to the full session.  No Exceptions!  It is our goal to support hospital departments with consistent Teen Volunteers throughout the summer program.
