Throughout our history, we have sought to utilize various means to relieve pain and suffering. With modern advances in science and medicine, there have been significant improvements in the treatment of injury and disease. Physical therapy is one branch of such treatment which is now recognized as a separate area of professional specialization.

Physical therapy is the examination, treatment and/or instruction to detect, assess, prevent, correct, and alleviate physical disability and pain. Therefore, persons who may receive physical therapy include those who have physical disabilities or injuries caused by accidents, birth defects, illness, or aging.
