St. Joseph Regional Health Center's Emergency Center in Bryan, Texas covers eight counties (5,072 square miles) and 284,766 lives. A team of board-certified emergency physicians, trauma surgeons, anesthesiologists and other specialists are available to provide rapid diagnosis and immediate treatment of life-threatening injuries seven days a week, 24 hours a day. St. Joseph Regional Health Center has the most comprehensive availability of specialists in the region. These specialists, including orthopedic-trauma surgeons, neurosurgeons, cardiologists and others are on-call 24-hours a day to respond to the needs of emergency patients.

The Emergency Department recently expanded and remodeled, offering a more comfortable waiting area, new express services for minor emergencies, and additional treatment areas. St. Joseph emergency service is the only center in the region staffed with Board Certified Emergency Physicians 24 hours a day.

Express Care services are available from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. Express Care is designed to offer expedient care to patients with an illness or injury that lends itself to rapid diagnosis, treatment, and discharge. Illnesses or injuries such as sprains, small lacerations, contusions, non-displaced fractures, acute bronchitis, colds, flu, ear infections, etc., are suitable for Express Care. 

The Emergency Department provides state-of-the-art equipment for complete management of the most difficult emergencies occurring in our community. Four trauma/high acuity beds and 23 monitored beds.

As we all know life is unpredictable, but you can rely on us to be close when you need us. At St. Joseph, in addition to our specialized medical departments and innovative services and research, we're equipped to handle a wide array of emergency situations. St. Joseph Regional Health Center provides full emergency services, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For the most urgent emergency situations, critical patients can reach the nearest emergency room in minutes by a PHI helicopter.

St. Joseph Regional Health Center is the first Accredited Chest Pain Center and only Certified Primary Stroke Center in the region. We treat more heart attack and stroke patients than anyone else in the region.

National guidelines recommend the treatment of heart attacks within 90 minutes. The median treatment time at St. Joseph is 55 minutes, based on the last five months performance. That's among the best performance in the nation.
